PCI-Dailey Company History

PCI-Dailey boasts a storied legacy within the realm of commercial construction. Our enduring commitment to excellence spanning decades, coupled with our sterling reputation, is vividly portrayed through the chronicle of our journey.

1930

30-year old Ralph Dailey borrowed $4,000 and founded R.E. Dailey & Company in July of 1936. Dailey began to build a reputation for the ability to successfully complete complicated and hazardous Public Works Administration projects during the Roosevelt administration.

1940

Ralph Dailey’s principles of quality, timeliness and attention to detail became the hallmark of the company and fueled its growth through the years. Ralph’s sons, Tom and Larry Dailey, started spending their summers working for the company in the late 40’s.

1950

Tom and Larry became full-time employees in the early 50’s. The Company continued to grow and to diversify and quickly entered the arena of commercial office building construction. In the late 50’s the company built its first office structure, the IBM Building in Detroit (7700 2nd Ave Detroit, MI 48202).

1960

Tom and Larry Dailey ran the company starting in the 60’s and the company enjoyed steady growth. Ralph Dailey’s principles of client service and attention to detail ran deep through the entire organization and the company was rewarded with an increasing volume of repeat business.

1970

The Dailey team flourished and successfully constructed many significant building landmarks in the Metro-Detroit area including the American Center, Top of Troy and Southfield Town Center. Ralph’s grandson, Steve Dailey, started his construction career with the company in the late 70’s.

1980

In the early 80’s, the company was sold to a larger national construction company. Steve Dailey stayed on and was soon promoted to vice president of operations, responsible for the execution of all construction operations for the division’s $350M annual revenue.

1983

In 1983, Paramount Commercial Wallcoverings was born.  Mike, Marty, and Bob had the vision of outfitting office environments with the latest fabric trends.  The trio travelled to Europe and visited design shows in search of designs that would transform the metro-Detroit commercial real estate market and catch the eye of local prominent designers.

1990

By 1990, the rebranded Paramount Wallcoverings and Textiles was becoming a well-recognized name among local architects, designers, and building owners.  Most of the general contractors in the area were getting their wall finish materials from one source, Paramount.

1995

In the mid 1990's, general contractors and building owners requested that the rebranded PCI (Paramount Commercial Interiors) start fabricating wall panels and installing them in buildings to meet demand.  Born out of this was PCI's carpentry division that exists to this day.

1996

In 1996, Steve Dailey realized his dream of founding his own company utilizing his experience and the time-tested family business philosophies of quality, integrity and professionalism. And so began The Dailey Company.

2000

The Dailey company grows to become an industry leader. Constructing and designing some of the most noteworthy projects in the Metro Detroit area.

2005

PCI Industries, Inc. added floor finishes to it's bustling lines of wall finishes and carpentry division.  In addition to it's robust offering of self-performing services, PCI morphed into a full-service commercial general contractor working on tenant fit-outs for some of metro-Detroit's premier real estate owners.
